Happy New Year Chamber Members! It is amazing to me how quickly 2016 came and is gone – and how quickly we are welcoming 2017. I must say, I am looking forward to the start of a New Year! It makes me think of New Year’s Resolutions.
As an individual, making and keeping New Year’s resolutions can be one of the hardest things to do. Most people resolve to lose weight, eat better, get organized or stop procrastinating. Others vow to be more charitable while some resolve to live life to the fullest. As much as we wish we can spend all 365 days sticking to our resolutions, by the time February hits, our resolution has become a thing of the past. There are those exceptional few who have the will power to keep their resolution for the long haul while it may be hard for the rest of us.
As a business owner or manager, a few New Year’s resolutions to make could include the following:

  • Revisit your Hiring Policy and Procedures
  • Update your Company Employment Handbook
  • Provide Feedback to your Employees
  • Evaluate Best and Worst Practices for Strategic Growth
  • Become a Better Time Manager
  • Be Involved in the Community
  • Attend Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce Weekly Forum at the Clarion Inn

Speaking of being involved, I encourage everyone to attend the Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet on January 13, 2017 at the Four Rivers Cultural Center. This evening is to honor and celebrate those who have been noticed and recognized for being Outstanding Citizens in our Community. Thank You and Congratulations to Man of the Year: Bil Carter, Woman of the Year: Jane Padgett, Business of the Year: Blackaby Insurance Agency, Inc., Agriculturalist of the Year: Jim Klauzer and Educator of the Year: Robin Jackson of Treasure Valley Community College. Each of you should be proud of all that you do!
I would like to say “Thank You” to Barbara Olson for the leadership she provided to the Board of Directors as 2016 Board Chair, and to the Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce staff for your hard work and dedication. You are each appreciated for all you do!

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year!
