As we leave the month of October and tricks or treats behind, we look forward to the month of November. A month to reflect on all that we are thankful and grateful for. Many quotes about being thankful come to mind such as, “it is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy” – “give thanks with a grateful heart” – “let our lives be full of both thanks and giving” – “there is always something to be thankful for” – “choose to be grateful” – “small seeds of gratitude will produce a harvest of hope” – “it is not joy that makes us grateful it is gratitude that makes us joyful” – “life is full of give and take, give thanks and take nothing for granted”.
I feel thankful and grateful for so many things. As Board Chair, I want to give thanks to all of the members that are a part of the Ontario Area Chamber of Commerce, for John Breidenbach-CEO and his office staff who make this organization work day in and day out. Thank you for supporting the mission to market and strengthen our businesses while enhancing the quality of life in our community.
As Debbie Blackaby of Blackaby Insurance Agency, Inc., I want to give thanks to all of our clients that support our business and help us continue the legacy that began 98 years ago when Mr. Earl Blackaby opened the doors of “Blackaby Insurance Agency”, and to our staff who help make our business run day in and day out. Personally, I am so thankful for my husband Mike, for my family and friends and all of those who touch my life, for all that I have and all that I have not!

For most of us, we do not have to wonder where our next meal is coming from, we are not ill and homebound, are not a group of people who are often overlooked and forgotten, we are not those who are considered less fortunate, who will not have gifts for Christmas and who may not have hope and cheer during this holiday season. For those who do know these feelings, they are thankful and grateful for this Annual Festival of Trees Holiday Fundraising Event. Festival of Trees raises funds for Malheur County Meals on Wheels and Help Them to Hope.
